First time building a new house and we have been taken care of from start to finish. Jamie (TLC) has helped us with all our questions throughout and Rick (Quality Assurance Manager) has made sure that every detail was perfect for our final walkthrough today. My husband works in construction and was very impressed with the craftsmanship of the house. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new home”. - Diana Boonstra

Brantford also boasts a General Hospital serving over 120,000 residents and it’s largest university, Wilfrid Laurier University with over 3100 students.
And if you’re looking for entertainment Brantford delivers that too! An International Jazz Festival, a casino with live entertainment and dining and a booming downtown offering a diverse selection of up and coming restaurants.

Baby It’s Cold Outside
Humidity in our Homes – Too much or Too Little? – Making sense of it all.
Today’s new homes are better built to seal out the cold however this may also pose a challenge of not enough moisture in your home during the winter months.
Depending on how many people live in your home you may find you have too much humidity. Excess moisture can be caused by simple day to day tasks such as showering, cooking and doing laundry.
Without the proper use of fans, dehumidifiers, and/or heat recovery ventilators excess moisture can cause windows to sweat, hardwood floors to buckle and swell and contribute to many health problems.
However, too little humidity can also cause health problems like asthma, dry skin, hair and chapped lips. It can also incur damage in your home. If your home is too dry it stands to reason it will also dry out materials like hardwood and drywall. Cracks in the walls and shrinkage/cracks in your hardwood flooring will develop.
What You Can Do:
Use a hygrometer in your home to measure your humidity. Keep the humidity level between 35-45%.
Control moisture in your home by using the bathroom fans, kitchen range hoods and ventilators (such as heat recovery ventilators).
If you need to cut back on the humidity in your home think of buying a de-humidifier. A de-humidifier will eliminate musty smells, combat mold and mildew and minimize condensation on your windows.
Keeping your windows open half an inch can also help with excess humidity in the home along with running the fans in your home.
If you need to add humidity - purchase a humidifier. There are many choices available now offering both cool and warm mist. Both will have the same results however often cool mist humidifiers are sold for larger areas while the smaller, warm mist humidifiers are better suited for small rooms.
By maintaining the correct humidity in both winter and summer it not only protects the materials in your home but also your home warranty & the health of you and your family.
Home Décor Tip
There’s no better feeling in the winter than coming home to a warm and cozy environment. Whether you’re helping the kids with their homework, curled up reading a book or cooking a meal for the family – everything becomes more enjoyable when your home is comfortable and toasty warm.
Here’s some simple and easy ways to make your home a sanctuary during those cold, winter months:
- Toss big, fluffy throw cushions on chairs and sofas
- Warm up a room and keep your feet warm at the same time with an area rug
- Snuggle up with a soft and chunky knit throw
- Burn candles in vanilla and spicy cinnamon scents
- Add ambiance and a soft glow to a room by using colored lamp bulbs or twinkle lights
