About the Neighbourhood
One of Southern Ontario’s hidden gems, Stoney Creek amalgamated with the City of Hamilton in 2001. A popular destination for young professionals and families, Stoney Creek begins just east of the Red Valley Parkway and ends where Grimsby begins. It encompasses the Niagara Escarpment, and includes the area from Lake Ontario to Rymal Road. For families that love the outdoors but still require the modern amenities found in urban areas, Stoney Creek offers a perfect middle ground between small-town and big-city lifestyles.
Stoney Creek is named after the area’s central water feature, “The Stoney Creek”, which runs from the iconic Devil’s Punchbowl all the way to Lake Ontario. As a part of Hamilton, Stoney Creek gets to enjoy being a section in the waterfall capital of the world. Hike, bike and more through Stoney Creek’s many fantastic parks and conservation areas.
Hamilton is often compared to Brooklyn, NY as it is home to a thriving arts and culture scene that sets it apart from other nearby municipalities. In addition to a number of athletic and social clubs in the area, Stoney Creek – known by locals as the “Old Town” – is home to various historical sites. There are plenty of quaint cafes, restaurants and local shops in the area, and Stoney Creek is host to a number of annual events and festivals for residents to enjoy.
As a great destination for families, Stoney Creek is home to an abundance of fantastic schools within the town’s boarders. With so many great educational opportunities as well as a variety of recreational programs, Stoney Creek is truly designed for children and families to thrive.
Stoney Creek offers many ways to travel throughout the GTA with ease. Commute to Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Cambridge, Burlington, Niagara Falls and more in under an hour. The Hamilton GO Train station is a short drive away and provides a simple way to reach Toronto’s Union Station via public transit.
For a quaint, small-town experience not far from the city, Stoney Creek is for you.
